Ivan Kupala is a folk open air festival that takes place this summer in London. Kupala is one of the main holidays in Slavic and Baltic peoples’ culture that celebrates summer solstice. Rich programme of events of this international festival shows the kinship of cultures and tradition of Baltic and Slavic people.
The festival will take place on June 22 from 12:00 to 18:00. During Midsummer Festival there will be charity concert, funfairs, kids sports and entertainment events, art and craft stalls, face-painting, Ridgeline Climbing Wall, Garden Games, Pedal Go Karts, 6 bed trampoline, crazy bikes, crazy golf, bouncy castles, lasertag and much more.
Hosting the festival are:
Irina Karacheva – theatre and film actress, singer, art-curator. An Allsoviet Institute of Cinematography, Acting Faculty graduate from the Sergey Bondarchyuk class. After graduating Irina moved to London and continued her acting and teaching career. She has lived in London for over 20 years now.
Oleg Kalninsh – professional actor and radio DJ. Oleg started his career on radio in Riga (Latvia) and continued with it in London. He also worked on air with Seva Novgorodtsev at the BBC. Oleg interviewed almost every Russian pop-star who performed in London.
Food and refreshments will be provided. There will also be a dance floor. Expected turnout: 5000 people
Access to the park is also available from the Marsh Lane (new bridge over Dagenham Brook under construction), Orient Way and Ive Farm Lane.
