An exhibition exploring the nature of drawing language, influenced by Dante's Inferno and the human imperative of wayfinding. The resultant drawings are ambiguous and multi-layered, establishing a complex alliance between the visual and verbal.

Anthony Corner, the artist, was motivated to produce a series of drawings loosely influenced by Dante's Inferno and it's 'Everyman' universal quality. The Inferno's obvious parallel relationship to our contemporary society with its sliding moral scales was a further motivation. A story driven by light and dark, physical movement and life's tonality lends itself to an exhibition where drawing is key. The resultant drawings are ambiguous and multi-layered, establishing a complex alliance between the visual and verbal. The relationship between image and text or pictorial representation and linguistic description is about how we describe or name something.

"The ‘Everyman’ Dante embarks on an experiential wayfinding journey through a labyrinth of emotional and physical trials, guided by Virgil, his moral mentor."
- Anthony Corner.

One of the pieces, Bonifazio, from this body of work has been accepted for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 9th June - 17th August
