Death Actually, created and directed by Thomas Guthrie and his own newly-launched GOT (Guthrie Opera Theatre) Company, is a Triple Bill at Spitalfields Summer Festival on 20 and 21 June at 6.30pm at the Toynbee Studios, 28 Commercial Street, London E1. It's an irreverent celebration of death in all its humanity, including a theatrical recreation of Schubert's song cycle of love and destruction Die schöne Müllerin (with guitar and puppetry); the first-ever staging of J S Bach's tantalising motets; and an unruly session of bawdy baroque - representing a wake - with the Norwegian band, Barokksolistene. It will be an invigorating, life-affirming evening of music.
