When you think of the origins of dubstep, a couple of names spring to mind. One is Skream and the other, invariably, is Mala.
Long fighting the fight to protect his beloved genre against its bastardization by people across the pond, Mala's work with DMZ and as Digital Mystikz still resonates today. He came back with the superb 'Mala in Cuba' in 2012, which was a testament, if one was needed, of the enduring and malleable presence of 140bpm, and how it's not going to die any time soon. His set at The Nest should be a moment to remember.
