Soho’s new underground sensation Cahoots will team up with the Basement Galley for the first time on Sunday, 7th June for an afternoon of fine dining, cocktails and sing-a-longs. Guests will be transported to a world of scoundrels, underground jazz and quintessentially British-inspired cuisine. The Underground Supper Club will offer guests a truly immersive dining experience with a menu that features the best of British fare circa 1946. Chef Alex Cooper has conceived an extraordinary five-course menu that pays homage to post-war Britain. The comforting starter will be a Spicy Spam Ceviche with Apricot Curd, Pumpernickel Crumb and Manchego Foam, followed by Smokey Beef Mince and Red Wine Stew with Mashed Potato and greens. Guests will feel as though they have stepped back through time as they are served Caramelised Grapefruit, a 40’s classic that was often served as a starter on British Rail. Diners can tuck into a scrumptious Steamed Pudding, Preserved Fruits and Rhubarb served in a Kilner Jar and topped with Banana Custard, an original dessert first created by the Minister of Food, who oversaw the national rationing throughout that period. The final provision of the evening will be an authentic chicory-rationed coffee with milk powder. In addition to serving the unique menu, Cahoots will be offering signature cocktails including the Vera Lynn, Give Peas a Chance and the sharer cocktail, “The Tanqueray No. TEN Station Clock,’ served in an actual clock with a working clock face, mind you – the hands do tick backwards in time. There will also be wine and for those who simply want to enjoy the comfort of classic ale, Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale will be available. The Basement Galley started out as a recreational weekend project in Brixton as an avenue for Alex Cooper and Tom Fothergill to live out their recipe ideas and has now turned into an ambitious culinary undertaking: a hybrid of secret supper club, cutting edge pop-up and social interaction. The Basement Galley has hosted the Underground Supper Club in a decommissioned 1967 Victoria Line carriage in a tucked away area in Walthamstow. Guests have the opportunity to try an ever-changing five-course tasting menu and socialise with strangers that share a passion for quality food.

The Inception Group also own and operate 80s themed nightclub, Maggie’s, the acclaimed Bunga Bunga, an Englishman’s Italian, Bar, Pizzeria and Karaoke venue in Battersea, and Mr Fogg’s a Mayfair based bar modelled on the actual home of Jules Verne’s most famous adventurer, Phileas Fogg. Last summer, they launched Cocobananas, which takes inspiration from a Brazilian Beach party. This past December, they launched Beaver Lodge, a cabin bar and dance saloon based on the winter cowboy log cabins found in Wyoming.
