We welcome to the Club this evening one of the most exciting Latin/Groove bands on the scene. Although this is their first gig here we think they will fit perfectly in to the family of great Latin and Groove bands that we feature regularly on a Friday night. After holding down a residency in West London for over 5 years, where they perfected their infectious blend of Brazilian Funk, Latin, Ska and Soul, this powerful 7-piece band is now stretching its wings. Led by guitarist and singer Sam Sutton, fronted by the wonderful US-born singer Kay Elizabeth, featuring two great players in their powerful horn section and driven by a rhythm section to die for, The Fontanas have made quite an impact on the scene of late. Boasting musicians who have played with the likes of Incognito, Professor Green and Alice Russell the band has been seen at numerous festivals and high-profile venues around the country including Bestival, Glastonbury, The Secret Garden Party, Boomtown, Edinburgh Festival, BT London Live Victoria Park and Ronnie Scott’s. As well as Sam and Kay the line up tonight includes Paul Silver on sax, Dave Boa on trumpet, 606 regular Carl Hudson on piano, Magnus Box on bass and Jimmy Norden on drums. This promises to be a fantastic night of high energy Brazilian Funk, Groove and Soul and absolutely not to be missed.
