Hackney WickED Open Studios

Hackney WickED is hosting an Open Studios Weekend on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 June, open to the public from 12 to 6 in Hackney Wick for free.

To gather some support for the artists in the area, we've organised a fundraising party for Friday 26th. £5 donation tickets for this can be found here.

Hackney Wick artists are coming together to organise a DIY Open Studios event at the end of June, to celebrate the artist and creative community that currently resides in the area. The event will take place on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 June 12-6pm and is open to the public, although advance RSVP is encouraged via Billeto.

Some spaces will have private views on Friday 26 June, subject to invitation. This may potentially be the last Open Studios event of its kind prior to many artist studios buildings and workspaces being moved out of their current spaces so the ethos is, 'let's enjoy it it whilst we can'.

The theme for London Festival of Architecture this year is 'Work in Progress'which is very apt for the resourceful and collaborative nature of Hackney Wick. 'DEN-City1' part of the weekend, curated by local artist Rebecca Feiner, set on the former site of the Hackney WickED Art Festival Riviera at Forman's Fish Island. It will be a collaboration that artists are encouraged to join to create a utopian temporary city of colour, a shanty town of art installations. Details on Facebook Page 'DEN-City1'.

See Studio will be home of the installation and 'shop' by local architect Richard Brown, where maps and information will also be available for the Hackney Wick London Festival of Architecture Weekend.
