SPANISH FESTIVAL OF THEATRE
The best in modern Spanish theatre is coming to London next week (22nd – 28th June) for the Spanish Festival of Theatre at The Courtyard Theatre (nearest tube Old Street).

Complete with subtitles (surtitles if you’re being picky), think live action Pedro Almodovar mixed with BBC Four Scandi-drama but with latin passion.

The Wounds of the Wind
On Monday and Tuesday night, 7:30pm, £18/£16.50, Kiti Manver Spain’s answer to Judi Dench and star of the original Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown will be performing in a gender/sexuality twisting tale of intrigue and mystery.

His father's death forces David to take charge of his legacy. Among their belongings is something unexpected: letters of love of another man. Baffled by the discovery, he decides to visit the alleged lover of his father and discover the truth.

The Dark Stone
Wednesday to Sunday, 7:30pm, Matinees 3:00pm; £18/£16.50, after huge success across Spain this year, this two-hander set during the darkest days of the Spanish Civil War delves deep into the Spanish psyche.

Two men have been captured and imprisoned by the Spanish rebels and are destined to spend the last years of their lives together. Sat in a room in a military hospital near Santander, these complete strangers are forced to share the terrible hours of a countdown that may end, at dawn, with the death of one of them
