Meet Hanif Kureishi and Petina Gappah
Join Hanif Kureishi and Petina Gappah and hear them read from their new books, Love + Hate and The Book of Memory, here at Goldsboro Books on Monday 24th August from 7pm. Tickets £6 to include refreshments.



Hanif Kureishi grew up in Kent and studied philosophy at King’s College London. His novels include The Buddha of Suburbia, which won the Whitbread Prize for Best First Novel, The Black Album, Intimacy and The Last Word. His screenplays include My Beautiful Laundrette, which received an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay, Sammy and Rosie Get Laid and Le Week-End. He has also published several collections of short stories. He has been awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and been translated into thirty six languages. Love + Hate, a collection of stories and essays, was published by Faber in June 2015.



The Book of Memory is the stunning debut novel by Petina Gappah, and is our September book of the month.

Petina Gappah is a Zimbabwean writer with law degrees from Cambridge, Graz University and the University of Zimbabwe. Her debut story collection, An Elegy for Easterly, won the Guardian First Book Prize in 2009. Her debut novel The Book of Memory is published by Faber in September.
