Celebrating William Blake

Help raise funds for Blake’s cottage by joining us for an evening of readings, music & discussion with an all star line up including:

Katherine Ellis
Deborah Levy
Alex Marwood
Daljit Nagra
Richard Skinner
George Szirtez
SJ Watson

This unique event brings together an eclectic range of bestselling and award-winning novelists, poets, and Blake aficionados to celebrate his life and his poetry. The evening will be packed with readings, music, discussion and will feature new interpretations of and responses to his poems. All proceeds go directly to the Blake Cottage Appeal, which aims to buy Blake’s Sussex cottage where he wrote Jerusalem, and keep it in trust for the nation.

The line up includes Booker Prize shortlisted novelist, poet and short story writer Deborah Levy; multi-award winning poet and translator George Szirtes; Next Generation Poet, Keats House Poet in Residence & author of two award winning collections Daljit Nagra; novelist SJ Watson whose debut Before I Go To Sleep became an international bestseller & a film starring Nicole Kidman & Colin Firth; Alex Marwood award-winning thriller writer including The Killer Next Door which Stephen King described as ‘scary as hell’; one of the industry’s leading vocalist & songwriters Katherine Ellis, who recently performed the title track on the BAFTA winning film Gravity; and the evening will be hosted by novelist, poet and Director of Fiction at the Faber Academy, Richard Skinner.

There will also be a chance to buy books and have them signed by the authors after the event.

Waterstones Piccadilly is the perfect venue, situated just a few doors down from St James’ Piccadilly where Blake was baptized in 1757.

All proceeds go towards the Blake’s Cottage fund.
