To celebrate the premiere of the highly-anticipated Star Wars VII – The Force Awakens, Finchley Road’s O2 Centre is inviting shoppers to enjoy a fun-filled day of sci-fi entertainment.

On Saturday 19 December, 10 Stormtroopers will take over the shopping centre to entertain the crowds. In addition, Jedi and Princess Leia training classes will take place, along with sci-fi face painting and a hair bar with the hairdresser from the Star Wars, as well as Princess Leia storytelling sessions inside Waterstone’s and a roaming Darth Vader.

The event, which runs throughout the day, from 10am-8pm, is being held to raise money for Mencap - the national charity which has been supported by the O2 Centre for the past two years. Mencap supports people with disabilities as well as their families and carers.

Jason King, Centre Manager of O2 Centre said: “Star Wars is one of those legendary films that brings people together from all walks of life and of all ages.

“As The O2 Centre’s Vue cinema will be screening the film, we thought it was a great excuse to celebrate! We are really looking forward to inviting people in to enjoy the activities we have in store.”

Daily screenings of the film will be available to watch at the O2 Centre’s Vue Cinema, where it will premiere one minute past midnight on Thursday 17 December.

The Star Wars event is open to people of all ages and is free to attend, however shoppers are asked to make a donation to Mencap.

During the afternoon a string quartet will also play a repertoire of music from Star Wars movies including Imperial March, John Williams Main Theme and others.
