an Rankin is best known for his superb best-selling Inspector Rebus crime novels, whilst singer Jackie Leven has produced a spectacular array of albums. 'Jackie Leven Said' is a short story by Ian Rankin which he will be reciting in short bursts, punctuated by songs sung by Jackie. It deals with the mystery of how, at its lowest ebb, life can suddenly become beautiful - 'the concerns of the story will be the soul, the passions, the past, our Celtic ties, Scottishness, masculinity'.
