Urban Lab Films presents a screening of Kleber Mendonça Filho's 'Neighbouring Sounds' as part of an evening discussion on security and surveillance in the Latin American city.
Life in a middle-class neighbourhood in Recife, Brazil, takes an unexpected turn after the arrival of an independent private security firm. The presence of these men brings a sense of safety and a good deal of anxiety to a culture which runs on fear.
Includes a discussion with author and journalist Anna Minton, film scholar Tiago de Luca and security researcher Rodrigo Firmino.
