This will be a practical and highly engaging Course aimed to introduce you to the nature of ancient Greek Theatre both as a form of art and as a product of a particular historical society. Through the use of text we explore some of Ancient Greek Theatre's big themes such as love, loss, pride and the abuse of power. We will be looking at the use of speech, space, staging, blocking and movement through work on various scenes from Classical Greek tragedies. Special attention will be given to the role of chorus, its interaction with the actors and the use of choral speech and coordinated movement. The work of Sophocles and Euripides are explored.

The sessions will be led by Kelly Manteli who was born in Athens. She is a professionally trained and fully qualified (MA,BA (Hons), PGCE) Drama Teacher and Practitioner with extensive experience of preparing and delivering drama workshops and acting lessons to students of all ages within various Educational and Theatrical Establishments.

Our Platform modules are really popular and places will be on a first come first served basis. For further information or to secure your place please email [email protected] or ring Jane on 020 8567 0011
