World Dramaturgy is very happy to present a rehearsed reading of 5boys by Simona Semenic.

Blaz is going to be a manager, just like his dad. Vid doesn't tell the others he still plays with lego. Jurij doesn't live with his father. Krystof thinks everything is bullshit. Denis hates that about Krystof. In fact he hates everything. The boys have a secret meeting place, where they meet and play on Saturday afternoons, when they happen to be free. Sometimes they play JLA (Justice League of America, how fucking difficult can it be to say that?), sometimes they play house, sometimes war, sometimes faggots and Neonazis. Blaz warns them that the faggots are everywhere, they even disguise themselves and have children. Through the way they're playing we're introduced to fragments of their lives, their family situations and the society they live in.

Please join us on 17th April at Drayton Arms Theatre for the UK premiere of Simona Semenic's award winning play. 5boys is produced by Elena Liutkute, one of the founders of World Dramaturgy, and is directed by Linus Karp.

World Dramaturgy is a platform for rehearsed play readings from all around the world. We have so far staged successful readings of new work from New Zealand, Lithuania, Sweden, USA and Australia. We aim to present high quality plays which have received critical acclaim but have not been performed in the UK. This allows London audiences to access a wider variety of cultural narratives, developing interest and empathy for the people and stories of other countries.
