National Amaretto Day at Bunga Bunga

Battersea’s hit pizzeria, bar and karaoke joint Bunga Bunga is pulling out all the stops for this year’s National Amaretto Day on Tuesday, 19th April. Bunga Bunga will be teaming up with the world’s favourite Italian liqueur, Disaronno, for an Amaretto-fuelled soiree, featuring an exclusive drinks and food menu with Italian favourites revolving around this nutty flavoured Italian libation. Amaretto-fans can look forward to specialty cocktails including the Italian Kiss, a sweet mix of Disaronno liqueur, Martini Rosato vermouth, strawberry puree, Prosecco and strawberry foam as well as authentic Italian favourites with an Amaretto-twist, including a Disaronno sweet pizza made with an almond-dough base.

The romantic origins of Amaretto can be traced back to 16th century Italy. Legend has it that a painter named Bernadino Luini traveled to Saronno in Northern Italy and met a beautiful widow. When he asked her to be a model for one of his paintings, she expressed her gratitude by presenting him with the first amaretto drink.
