With a new NLD government taking over in Burma after the party's landslide general election victory, Dr Richard Cockett discusses the implications for the country in the coming years.

Richard has reported from Latin America, Africa and Asia for The Economist, and was Southeast Asia correspondent from 2010-14. He is the author of several books, the most recent being Blood, Dreams and Gold: The Changing Face of Burma.

Prospect Burma invests in the future of Burma through its young people. Our flagship scholarship programme is open to young men and women from all regions of the country and from all ethnic and religious backgrounds. It allows them access to a quality of training at overseas universities which will not be available in Burma for many years to come.

The talk will be from 19:00 and dinner (optional) from approximately 20:00. For bookings please contact Maja at the Savile Club 020 7491 5563. Dress code: Elegantly casual, jacket and tie, no jeans or trainers.
