A topical exhibition opens at Espacio Gallery in Shoreditch in February showcasing the talents of 18 London photographers. The show includes a variety of approaches and styles as the photographers present their individual explorations of the exhibition theme, Here.

Apart from a film, a photograph is the only re-creation of the world that cannot be made from memory. Writers, composers and painters can all work inside their own heads, but photographers have to be in the same place as the things or the people they photograph. The here-and-now is the material. Many people, however, whether making their own or looking at other people’s photographs, have tended to concentrate on the temporal, the “now” of the photograph.

The fifth show of the London Independent Photography’s Central Satellite Group brings together eighteen photographers, who explore in very different ways the implications of concentrating on the HERE instead.
