Swans, handsome cannibals, confronting the past in Latvia, censorship and imaginary boyfriends.

Funhouse and PEN Atlas present a series of readings that explore body, borders and place. Come and hear the 'delicate rhythmic trip wires' of Kayo Chingonyi, whose debut collection, Kumukanda, will be published in June; Xiaolu Guo's searing and rebellious memoir, Once Upon a Time in the East, exploring the everyday peculiarity of China and the UK; Eli Goldstone's debut novel of 'savage tenderness', Strange Heart Beating; the bodily writing of Sophie Mackintosh, Jenna Clake and Susannah Dickey, whose work features in the third issue of Funhouse.

Funhouse is a new magazine of writing, illustrations and comics based in East London. The latest issue features writing by Sarah Gerard (Sunshine State, Harper Collins, 2017), Edward Doegar (For Now, Clinic, 2017), Tobias Carroll (Reel, Rare Bird Lit, 2017) and comics from Bridget M.

PEN Atlas is English PEN’s blog publishing weekly dispatches from around the world. Our new series of events presents a lively programme of debate and discourse for an internationally-minded audience.
