Did Martin Luther’s Reformation 500 Years Ago ‘Do The Pope A Favour?’ As He Suggested?

On the anniversary of the Protestant Reformer issuing the 95 Theses, Peter Stanford asks if today’s Catholic Church owes this Catholic dissident a vote of thanks.

Peter Stanford is a journalist, writer and broadcaster. His investigations into the history, theology and cultural significance of religious ideas include: The Devil – A Biography; How To Read a Graveyard; Judas - The Troubling History of the Renegade Apostle; and, most recently, Martin Luther: Catholic Dissident. A former editor of the Catholic Herald and a past Vaughan parent, he is a feature writer at the Daily Telegraph and director of the Longford Trust for prison reform.
