Figurative artist, Carly Ashdown, will be making an appearance in London this week to unveil a newly curated exhibition of her work.

Carly will be at Castle Fine Art in St Christopher’s Place on Thursday 30th November, from 6-8pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist as well as learn about the ideas and inspirations behind her works. The exhibition will then run for a further week.

Fascinated by human interaction from a young age, Carly's work explores the nature of being human, incorporating themes of personal transformation and understanding. One of her greatest artistic influences is Jackson Pollock, who pioneered the unique technique of drip painting, and her latest works feature text that she has woven through each image, as a way of heightening emotional charge.

Carly began pursuing her dream of becoming an artist after deciding to leave her successful television career where she worked for the BBC and Channel 4. She signed to the UK’s leading fine art publisher, Washington Green Fine Art, in 2015 after gaining widespread critical acclaim.

Carly said: “My art is an exploration of the profound beauty and possibility of life alongside the struggle that every human being experiences.

“I can’t wait to exhibit my work at Castle Fine Art and to see how visitors to the gallery interact with the paintings.’’

Elena Saraceni, gallery manager at Castle Fine Art, St Christopher’s Place – Washington Green’s nationwide network of high street galleries – said: “Carly’s work is expressive, dynamic and vibrant, drawing upon the deeply felt but unnameable experience of being alive.

“She expertly uses paint to create a myriad of emotions which echo the human experience. Her paintings need to be viewed in person to be truly appreciated, so we look forward to welcoming visitors to the gallery to see the work for themselves. ‘’
