The Space Between

The sixth show of the London Independent Photography’s Central Satellite Group brings together twenty-two photographers who explore in very different ways, the meaning of the SPACE BETWEEN.

In this rational age when we overwhelmingly categorise, systematise, and industrialise our world, artists create new meanings by inquiring about the spaces between categories. In photography, spaces between are often pictured as liminal spaces, the thresholds between places or times where transformation occurs. They capture something which has happened or an expectation of something happening. When space is conceived of in other ways, the photograph may capture the space between: cultures; states of mind; private and public; real and artificial or imagined.
