Addiction and mental health : Contemporary approaches and their efficacy.

A leading psychiatrist and addiction researcher Professor Kultegin Ogel will present a talk about some contemporary approaches to addiction and mental health and their efficacy. Professor Ogel has many years of experience in the field and has developed and led many projects aiming to prevent addiction in different groups including young adults in Turkey. Some of his work includes collaboration with UNICEF to develop psychosocial projects for children and young adults involved in crime. He has published several books, some of these focus on the use of motivational interviewing techniques in addiction, approaches to individuals with substance misuse problems, brief interventions to alcohol and substance misuse. As well as information about prevention and intervention strategies, this talk will also provide us with an insight into cultural differences and different risk factors for development and maintenance of addiction.
