Harrow Choral Society is set to return to the historic Speech Room of Harrow School for a performance of Handel’s evergreen masterpiece, ‘Messiah’ on Saturday 2nd April. The 80-strong choir, which continued to meet via Zoom throughout the recent lockdowns, has already given two successful concerts since resuming in-person rehearsals last September. In keeping with the baroque style of the oratorio the choir will be accompanied on period instruments by the renowned Charivari Agréable orchestra and conducted by HCS Music Director, Simon Williams. The choir will also be joined by four professional soloists: Angela Henckel, soprano, Mercè Bruguera Abelló, mezzo, Julian Smith, tenor and Jerome Knox who will sing bass. Winner of the 2020 London Handel Singing Competition, Jerome will be singing on his ‘home ground’, having been born and brought up in Harrow.
