London Wetland Centre will host a fun-filled festival of bird-themed events for the February half-term, giving families a one-of-a-kind opportunity to get up close with the UK’s most incredible winter wildlife.
From Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 February, ‘The Big Hideout’ will see London Wetland Centre turn its hides into Hideouts for families to enjoy bird watching and other bird-themed activities, such as den building and nest making.
Binoculars and telescopes will be available to borrow, and experts on wetland nature will be on hand throughout each day to help guests discover many birds that flock to the centre from around the world in the colder months. Check on arrival for times and locations.
Bird spotter sheets will be available to collect from the entrance to the London Wetland Centre’s cafe, for families to see how many wild birds they can tick off during their visit.
Budding and seasoned bird spotters should be looking for water rail, shoveler, wigeon and teal. Not forgetting the bittern, one of the UK’s rarest breeding birds.
