Deep in the subterranean tunnels, amidst the distant rumble of trains, a new sonic promenade experience is beginning….

Johnny Parry embarks on a three-night cycle of songs and films underneath Waterloo Station. Joined on stage by his chamber orchestra and surrounded by visual and sound artists, a sonic promenade straddles love, death and all the little things in between.

7.30pm Friday 6 August
Part 1: LOVE
For the first part of Johnny Parry’s underground cycle, alt_pop outfit Look, Stranger present their lavish alternative pop, plus there is a sneak preview of electric psycho duo Partial Gathering, who will be breaking strings and looping things for the finale on Sunday, before Johnny takes to the main stage.

8pm Saturday 7 August
Part 2: THE LITTLE THINGS IN BETWEEN
Things get experimental with The Gin Riots who couldn’t care less if you call them Polka, Indie or New Wave, and experimental electronic duo Shelley Parker & Paul Purgas, exploring the legacy of avant-garde merging drone, noise and detailed electronics. Firmly established on the gallery scene, their performances explore post-utopianism in the digital age. Johnny Parry closes the night with yet another stunning set of songs, films and weirdness on stage.

7.30pm Sunday 8 August
Part 3: DEATH
For the closing night Johnny Parry brings it all together with oboes, violins, cellos and drums surrounding his piano on stage. With more films and all the darkness and beauty this final part of his sonic underground cycle is not to be missed. Experimental cello and laptop duo Partial Gathering will get the underground arches to resonate with a fusion of strings and synthesised sound loops in a psychedelic experiment that could pass as one of Syd Barrett’s finest.
