Agamemnon is the first play in a trilogy, the Oresteia, which is considered Aeschylus' greatest work, and perhaps the greatest Greek tragedy. This epic play moves from a primitive world to a world of civilized institution, from rage to self-governance. Which raises the question, who is today’s Agamemnon, making this play deeply relevant in our politics, democracy, and moral codes. Directing the twenty-two strong cast is Astrid Vehstedt who has worked at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris and The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Richard Green from the highly acclaimed Ultrasound has composed an original musical score, which will be played live in company with the play.

We have rehearsed using some of the techniques from Stanislavski and Artaud.

The Trojan War is over, ten long years of utter destruction have ended, and Agamemnon the warrior is returning home. With him, his prize, Cassandra, a slave devoted and damned with vision and insight. Awaiting him, Clytemnestra, his Queen, full of violence and grief, gnawed by the depleted populous of Argos. So, the beacons are lit, the Watchman waits, dog-like to for fill Aesuchylus’ profound and devastating prophecy.
