Make a Magazine in 48 Hours

Some of London's best independent publishers are going to be making a magazine, live, at the Royal Festival Hall.

We're going to be working from an open news room, so visitors will be able to stop by, watch what we're doing and pitch in with story ideas, photographs, drawings and writing. We're starting on Friday evening, and by Sunday evening we'll have a 20-page magazine laid out, which will then be printed with Newspaper Club and 1,000 copies will be distributed around the Southbank Centre the following weekend.

It's all part of the celebrations surrounding the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain on the Southbank. The weekend we're there will be dedicated to Power and Production, with lots of workshops encouraging people to get hands-on with things like rapid prototyping, metalworking and hacking. By bringing these independent publishers together we're going to be able to showcase the brilliant work they do, as well as giving people a taste of what it's like to actually make a magazine.
