On August 18th from 7pm, The Lighthouse opens its doors for a special edition of Campfire – The Summer Cookout. Bringing the festival spirit to the heart of Islington with a barbecue, summer drinks and live performances, it’ll be the last Campfire of the season, and a chance to see out the summer in style.

We’ll be announcing the winners of Sunset, our independent online music festival seeking to nurture undiscovered talent from East London music schools including PTriple Community Projects, London School of Sound, SAE Institute, London Music School and Roundhouse Studios. There are 16 participants and you can listen and vote for their songs on the Sunset page on our website.

The professionals involved in mentoring the winner include DJ and Producer Ashley Beedle, Martyn Ware from Heaven 17, Phil Cheeseman of Strictly Rhythm Records, and Abel Reynolds from Finger Lickin’ Records.

Other attractions at the Summer Cookout include a first-time London exhibition of incredible Glastonbury images by photographer Liam Bailey at the ditto doors exhibition space. With two books under his belt, the London-based photographer has been a regular at the Glastonbury Festival since the early 1990s. Documenting the day-to-day life of a makeshift city with a unique sociological footprint, Bailey’s images show us a world in which intense experiences are played out against a backdrop dominated by big skies and, periodically, expanses of Glastonbury mud.
As the festival has grown and evolved the images show the festival burgeoning into a staple on the annual UK cultural landscape. See more of his projects here.

The guitar wizard Robert Castellani, two-time finalist of the ‘Guitarist of the Year’ competition, and composer of wistful pop songs, will be giving a live performance.

The 23-year-old star is currently recording his solo CD on the Ambiel record label and will be playing gigs all over UK. Learn more about Robert here.

And that’s only the half of it, so make sure you put it in your diary because, if last year’s was anything to go by, this is one party you won’t want to miss.
