The Hull Truck production of

The Rise and Fall of Little Voice
by Jim Cartwright

Directed by Hannah Chissick

Mari's daughter is different. Never leaves the house, doesn't like the men her mother brings home. She would rather stay in her room with only her record collection for comfort.

But she can sing! It's the kind of voice that gives you goosebumps. And when you can sing, you can do anything...

The big time beckons...but is it for Little Voice or is it a meal ticket for Mari's latest boyfriend Ray?

Is this a chance for escape? Or will putting Little Voice in front of a crowd ruin everything...?

This Hull Truck production will feature the up and coming actress Lauren Hood, in the starring role as Little Voice. Lauren made her professional debut playing the role of Carrie Pipperidge in the West End Production of Carousel, for which she was nominated for a TMA award.

LV’s mum will be played by Helen Sheals who previously played the title role of Little Voice in the first national tour at the Bristol Old Vic in 1993. Mari’s love interest, Ray Say, will be played by Neil McCaul and the plum role of Mari’s best friend, Sadie, will be played by Lisa Riley – best known for Emmerdale, Fat Friends and Waterloo Road and in the best-selling stage tour of Calendar Girls. Philip Hill-Pearson, known for his role as Bruce in Shameless and the upcoming film of the National Theatre hit War Horse, will play the sweet and dependable Billy.

Hannah Chissick returns to Hull Truck after her critically acclaimed production of Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Winner of Olivier Award Best Comedy, 1993
