Campfire Event with Shane Walter

Campfire is quickly becoming of the unmissable monthly events in London’s cultural agenda.

With roaring success of our Summer calendar of events, including two cutting-edge festivals, Sunrise and Sunset, and the Summer Cookout, the quality has been sky high.

Now, as we launch our Autumn programme with Shane Walter, director of the international digital film festival, onedotzero, this is just the start of another inspired season of ideas-packed talks.

Shane Walter is someone we regard very highly and someone we’re delighted to be inviting to Campfire. Voted one of the UK film industry’s top ten visionaries by Screen International, he has been on the frontline of the digital media revolution for 15 years.

At the helm of onedotzero, Shane has pioneered new forms of moving image, producing, commissioning and showing innovative works across video, animation, film and moving graphics. Besides its regular festival in London, onedotzero travels annually to 60 cities around the globe, as well as being engaged in educational, publishing, consultancy and DVD activities. Busy is hardly the word.

Shane Walter is a true renaissance man who has produced award-winning short films, TV series and events at major art venues including the V&A, Tate Modern and Hayward Gallery. He also writes articles, give lectures and travel the globe. In short, a multi-talented man of the multimedia age.

Downstairs on the ditto doors we will be presenting an exhibition of onedotzero memorabilia with a retrospective of past festivals. Upstairs, meanwhile, you can come and play with the newest interactive installation by SDNA, a creative studio combining digital content with installations and live performance.

SDNA have presented work at the ICA, V&A and Glastonbury to name just a few. They are currently involved at Ron Arad’s Curtain Call show at the Roundhouse, so we’re very proud to welcome them to ditto. Their installation,
‘Creaturae Aquae’, is a real-world game inspired by the scientific detachment of Victorian Collectors and the wild imaginations of medieval illustrators. If you’re intrigued already, we can guarantee you’ll be mesmerized when you experience it first-hand.
