Useless Stuff is a provocative portfolio of unique furniture designed to intrigue and question the notion of furniture as art, and function as purely purposeful. The Bug Chair – so compelling and revulsive; the restrained ‘Cloud of Unknowing’ table; the joyful spontaneity of the ‘Scribble Table’; the faintly odorous, irridescence of the Ta-Tar Table – each suggests a line of enquiry.
This exhibition reveals opportunities to establish an embodied, sensual and reflective relationship with ‘stuff’, that encourages us to move beyond the style obsessions that continue to fuel demand and the denial of responsibility for discerning choice.
