A festive Christmas shopping and family fun day in Muswell Hill, North London – “Eat, Drink & Be Merry In Muswell Hill!” Visitors to Muswell Hill’s historic Broadway and its individual boutiques will be treated to carol singers, mince pies, street performers, Father Christmas and one-day-only exclusive shopping offers and experiences. The event has been organised by “In Muswell Hill” an initiative led by the Muswell Hill Traders’ Group (MHTG.)

GETTING THERE: Muswell Hill’s unique village atmosphere is due in part to its location just outside the tube network. Muswell Hill can be reached on the 134 or 43 bus routes from Highgate tube or the 102 or 234 bus routes from East Finchley tube. Both Highgate and East Finchley stations are on the Northern Line.

To celebrate Christmas this year, and as part of its “In Muswell Hill” high street initiatives, the MHTG (The Muswell Hill Traders’ Group) is running a fun, festive day in Muswell Hill Broadway, open to all who would like to enjoy this warm, local community and its beautiful, independent boutiques. The “Eat, Drink & Be Merry In Muswell Hill” festive day, on Saturday 10th December, will allow the whole family to get into the Christmas spirit and provide a stress-free alternative to Christmas shopping in the West End. Children can meet Father Christmas and will be entertained by magical street performers, shopaholics will enjoy exclusive offers, stressed-out mums will be treated to pampering experiences and those just wanting to feel ‘Christmassy’ can enjoy carol singers, the Broadway’s Christmas lights and a mince pie or two.

Children’s entertainment
For those parents who can’t face the queues and entry fees of Central London Santa’s grottos, Muswell Hill will be giving children the chance to meet Father Christmas in a far more relaxed way on Saturday. Father Christmas will be walking around the Broadway throughout the day, along with a total of eight Lapland-themed street performers. Children will be able to enjoy balloon-modelling elves, stilt-walking Snow Queens, a juggling elf and Christmas magicians.

Visitors to the “Eat, Drink & Be Merry In Muswell Hill” festive day will be able to enjoy exclusive offers and discounts within a number of the shops and boutiques on Muswell Hill Broadway, such as free gift wrapping and 20% off selected items at Frocks Away. Doing your Christmas shopping in Muswell Hill on the 10th will be a far cry from the stress and crowds of the West End, with shoppers able to enjoy pampering and relaxing experiences at a number of retailers. After dark on Saturday, shoppers will be able to enjoy Muswell Hill’s Christmas lights, this year entirely funded by the MHTG. The Fortismere Community Choir will be performing festive songs throughout the day and mince pies will be on offer for those shoppers agile enough to catch a performing elf!
