Philippe, duc d'Orléans and younger brother of Louis XIV, was one of the most flamboyant figures at the court of the Sun King. Beyond many juicy details, his life is a fascinating example of how differently from today emotional needs and sexual preferences were perceived, judged and lived in the seventeenth century.
