Soho-based fish and chip shop, Golden Union, will be hosting their annual EATT (Eat At The Table) event in partnership with London homeless charity, Centrepoint. Celebrities including Alexandra Burke, Rachel Stevens and Aldo Zilli who will be serving Fish and Chips to over 100 young homeless people.

Golden Union, an independent, family-run fish and chips shop set up in 2008, has aimed to create an authentic-feeling British chippy with a modern twist. From the beginning, they have worked hard to give every single customer great quality, homemade food with fast and friendly service. Up and running on Poland Street in the heart of bustling Soho, Golden Union now aims to offer that same service to the homeless population of London, by hosting their third annual EATT event on Wednesday 8th February where celebrities including Alexandra Burke and Rachel Stevens have volunteered to be waiters for the night.

EATT, or Eat At The Table, will give homeless young people, some of the most vulnerable members of society, the opportunity to come and tuck into delicious, warm fish and chips served up by Golden Union. Not only does Billy Drew, the owner of the establishment, believe that Britain’s favourite meal should be served in a relaxed, authentic atmosphere, but he also believes fish and chips should never break the bank. This rare opportunity will be made possible by teaming up with Centrepoint, the leading charity for homeless young people, as well as various celebrities, who will be serving up the delicious fish and chips at the event.

"We are really excited to be part of this project for the third time. Homeless young people are like anyone else. Centrepoint support over 1,200 16-25 year olds every year and though they may have had a tougher time than others, they deserve to be treated with the same respect. Eat At The Table does this and looks to spread good past the festive season," shares John Raynham, Head of Fundraising at Centrepoint.

“EATT was one of our most popular events last year, and one that really made a difference to the community around us. We’re so pleased to be able to give the homeless a chance to dine at the table again, especially during this cold winter,” noted Kerry, co-owner of Golden Union.

More than 80,000 young people experienced homelessness in 2011, a rise of 15 per cent, and with youth unemployment at a record high of more than one million, the need to support them is greater than ever. Since it was founded in Soho in 1969, Centrepoint has been committed to ending youth homelessness, not only by providing a safe place to stay, but also the skills and support young people need to turn their lives around.
