From fresh produce through to a gardener’s question time, live music to seedling sowing, this is a farmer’s market with a difference! With an emphasis on ‘grow your own’ we’ve a whole day of family events, stalls, live music and edibles, plus a chance to ask the experts at Camden Garden Centre and Riverford Organic Box Scheme about growing your own fruit and veg.

Featuring special guests:

Mike Jackson from the Camden Garden Centre (CGC) & Paul Jardine from the Riverford Box Scheme, who will host our Gardener’s question time & offer advice to growers.

Budding young or riper gardeners: (10:30 am)
Learn to sow the first of the year’s seedlings in the Forge’s glazed courtyard. All are welcome to return each Saturday to see how your mini garden has grown. Once the frosts have left, your hardy blooms can be taken home to plant out.

Seasonal lunch will be served from 12.00pm. 2 courses for £10. £5 kid’s menu.

With live music from Atlantic B3, featuring the Hammond organ playing trio bringing their swinging rhythmic sound of original blues and raregroove soul to your lunch, featuring their new album ‘Farmer’s Market!’

Gardener’s question time: (1.45pm)
Ask your gardening question
Bring a sample of an infested or ailing plant and get an expert opinion on the cause or cure (We ask for a donation of 50p for each question to the CGC charity)

The Riverford box scheme began when Guy Watson started delivering vegetables locally to 30 friends in Devon. They now deliver around 40,000 boxes a week (from a selection of 100 different types of vegetables alone), to homes around the UK from their regional farms.

The Camden Garden Centre is an unusual organisation because not only does it supply plants and expert gardening guidance, but as a charitable organisation it also offers employment, training and educational opportunities.
