The Royal Institution in partnership with specialist insurer Hiscox invites you to a one-off discussion to discover the driving forces behind 21st Century business.

The speakers:
Eric Van Der Kleij is the CEO of the UK Government’s Tech City Investment Organisation, responsible for accelerating the fastest-growing Tech cluster in Europe and developing the area as a magnet for tech-led investment, innovation and talent. He has over 25 years’ experience as a technology entrepreneur and helped establish the UK Government’s Global Entrepreneur Programme, the national strategy for attracting ideas and talented entrepreneurs to the UK.

Dr Frank D Shaw, business strategist, process consultant and futurist who has worked with a wide variety of organisations in business, government, the voluntary sector and health. He formed the independent think-tank, the Centre for Future Studies, in 1996 to assist organisations in better understanding what the future may hold in store and through that knowledge enable them to make better strategic decisions today.

Elizabeth Varley, is the co-founder and CEO of TechHub, a community and workspace for tech startups in Old Street, East London. She is an entrepreneur and communicator with a background in editorial, marketing and events, aimed at the technology and new media sector and also leads the Twestival London team, a social-media-facilitated charity event.

Does Innovation begin with the entrepreneur or the technology? will be discussed in a panel-style event chaired by Vivienne Parry, national science journalist and former presenter of Tomorrow’s World.
