Pit Stop

Car enthusiasts need to make sure the tank is full and the engine’s raring to go to Queensway, Bayswater on Sunday 4 March for a roaring day out.

For one day only, Pit Stop is taking over Queensway, Bayswater featuring famous movie motors, an appearance by a television favourite and activities for all the family to get involved with.

Organised by Bayswater BID, the free event will give car enthusiasts the chance to see much-loved cars from the big and small screen including: Knight Rider, Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, and The Dodge Charger from The Dukes of Hazzard.

What’s more, there’ll be a plethora of luxurious classic motors to get those pulses racing such as: the elegant Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 FHC, the original muscle car Aston Martin V8 Oscar India, and the sublime Mercedes 280 SL.

Meet Perry McCarthy – the Original Stig from the BBC’s Top Gear – who will be greeting fans and answering any car and racing queries visitors have. Perry will be giving his insights into the world of motoring, revealing what it was like to work on the famous show and dishing the dirt on all the behind-the-scenes action from the world of Formula 1.

In the Formula 1 Pit Stop Challenge racing car experts will be running mechanic masterclasses on how to change a life sized F1 racing car’s tyres in the quickest time possible. Plus, visitors will get the chance to compete against racing legend Perry himself.

For those who fancy themselves as the next Lewis Hamilton there will be chance to try out the Formula 1 Stimulator. See how it feels to whizz around the track at speeds of up to 300mph.

There will also be an F1 Scalextric Track where visitors can race head to head on a multi-lane grand prix circuit using the latest scale racing cars.

There are loads of activities for visitors to hoot their horns about so head to Queensway, Bayswater on Sunday 4 March to join in the fun. Plus, don’t forget to visit the Taxi Photo Booth to capture memories of the day.
