Bring your sunscreen, flip-flops & appetites to the summer BBQ at Unity. This day of summer fun & activities will begin at 10am with an Indoor Boot Fair in the Large Hall. Are you interested in selling another mans treasure? Do you have books/dvds/games to get rid of? Do you make clothes? Do you have homemade/crafty bits that you would like to sell? Make jewellery? Do you paint? Print T-shirts? Knit? Make jam? Can you give shoulder massages? Do henna tattoos? If you would like to sell some bits, your art, a skill or some crafts, please confirm your interest on the form below and arrive at Unity at 9.30am to set up ready for buyers at 10am. There will be a limited number of tables avaialble for use, so if you cannot bring your own table, please book a table asap by completing the form, or contacting Shiobhan Joseph on 07932745727 [email protected].

From 1pm two BBQ’s will be serving up both vegetarian and carnivorous delights. If you are planning to join us for the BBQ, salads, fruit and soft drinks would be gratefully received. Please confirm your donation via the form. Recipes for dishes are available here.

Throughout the day there will be face painting, an egg and spoon race, children’s activities, a Cake Stand and a Cocktail Stand.

The big event of the day will be “Gunge the Minister”! Yes, you can have the opportunity to pour a bucketful of brightly coloured gunge all over our fabulous Minister, Andy!! To be in with a chance of enjoying this prize, you simply have to guess the number of love heart sweets in one of four jars. Each guess will cost £1 and you can take as many guesses as you want, for as many of the jars as you want. At 16:00 the winner who guessed the correct number of sweets in each jar will have the opportunity to “Gunge the Minister”! Each bucket of Gunge will be a different colour, so be fully prepared to see your Minister as you never have before, in a rainbow of goo!!

You can take part and have a guess here, as well as in person at the morning and evening services, and on the day. If you are unable to attend the event, you can still take part, and nominate someone to do the honors if you win! The "Gunging" will be videoed and posted on the website for your viewing pleasure.

To round off this day of excitement, there will be a Talent Show, from 5pm – 7.30pm. Can you sing? Dance? Act? Are you a comedian? Would you like to read from a play/poetry? Do you have any other talent that you would like to entertain with? Adults and children alike are welcome to take part.

Volunteers are gratefully needed for setting up the BBQ, cooking, helping Sara Robertson with the children’s activities and face-painting, baking cakes and staffing the cake stand and the cocktail stand, taking guesses & payment for “Gunge the Minister”, to co-ordinate the Talent Show, and generally help out behind the scenes, and some especially wonderful volunteers for clean-up.

In addition, volunteers are needed to help spread the word in our community about this exciting event. If anyone is interested in helping to post leaflets in the surrounding area, please get in touch with Shiobhan ([email protected]) to arrange a convenient date for you to help out.
