London Honey Show 2012

Einstein believed if bees died out, human beings wouldn't be far behind.

Following the phenomenal success of the first ever London Honey Show, the Lancaster London is delighted to announce that it will be organising and hosting the second annual event on Monday, 8 October 2012, from 6pm.

The focal point of the evening will be the awards ceremony for a range of categories including:

• Best Home Honey
• Best Rooftop Honey
• South versus North of the Thames
• Best Business Honey
• Best Honey Packaging
• Best Public Vote


The awards will culminate with the announcement of the “London Beekeeper of the Year 2012”. An impressive BeeCraft Magazine plaque will be presented to the Queen (or King!) Bee who wins this coveted title. Competitors will be able to enter via www.londonbees.com/london-honey-show which went live on 1 August 2012

In 2012, there will be a massive increase in the number of stalls, exhibits, activities and guests. The event will be moved to the refurbished Westbourne Suite, which has a capacity for 1,500 people to accommodate the ambitious expansion. The array of exciting stalls will be segmented into “zones” including: Food & drink; Arts & crafts; Beekeeping equipment; Beauty products; Hives & garden decorations... and much more.

New features and activities have been planned such as: a Children’s craft centre; Display area for local school projects; a raised platform for demonstrations of beekeeping skills by the main sponsor, Beecraft; plus a larger display of hives. Other points of interest include guest speakers and a tombola with amazing prizes.

Bees Action Network is the chosen charity for the 2012 event. This body works tirelessly to raise awareness about the plight of bees, inspire people to turn to beekeeping and to increase natural habitats. In order to maximise the money raised for the worthwhile cause there will be a £1 entrance fee, in addition to the money raised from the tombola.

The Lancaster London is renowned for supporting the plight of bees and has ten beehives and half a million bees on its second floor roof. This year the bees produced an impressive 80kg from only three hives, which is served in the hotel’s Island Grill.
