Hedgehog’s Home is a story about caring for your natural habitat. Set in the unspoilt environment of the forest, we find the wild creatures arguing about what home means: is it simply a place we should take for granted or is it something to be cherished and protected?

Hedgehog’s Home (original title: Jezeva Kucica) is a delightful tale of a brave Hedgehog and the love he has for his home created by a Serbian author Branko Copic. It was first published in Yugoslavia the early 1950’s, and since then has gone on to become one of the most popular children’s books in the region. Its theme, however, is so universal, the story of the brave hedgehog and his love for home can appeal to anyone, regardless of where they are from. At the same time, thanks to the natural rhythm of the narrative and the music of the rhyme, the story is perfectly suited to musical adaptation.

We are, thus, proud to present you Hedgehog’s Home – the Children’s Opera.

The story is being adapted to music by the highly talented composer, song-writer and musician, Emily Leather, in cooperation with the soprano singer, Elinor Moran. The premiere performances will take place on Friday and Sunday, the 9th and 11th of November at Conway Hall. Hedgehog’s Home is a truly special project as professional musicians will be joined on stage by the Pupils from Fitzjohn’s Primary School in Camden!
