A rare opportunity for Londoners to hear Bach's masterpiece, the Weihnachtsoratorium, sung in the original German. This oratorio is a cornerstone of the German Christmas season and musical celebration, a beautiful and moving depiction of the nativity. The Deutscher Chor London and the Forest Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Barbara Höfling will perform the first three movements, telling the story of the birth of Jesus, the annunciation to the shepherds and the adoration of the shepherds. Our renowned soloists are Barbara Kind (Soprano), who recently debuted as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Barbara Ochs (Alto), Achim Kleinlein (Tenor), a leading interpreter of the evangelist in Bach's oratoria, and Simon Berg (Bass).
