Brighten up your Christmas preparations by coming to hear the Elysian Singers and conductor Sam Laughton at the beautiful church of St Paul's Knightsbridge.
Bach's Christmas Oratorio has long been a mainstay of the festive season: but in reality it is made up of six separate cantatas, designed to be performed on successive Sundays. We have selected the first three cantatas, which together tell the traditional Christmas story, and will interleave them with three seasonal works by Gerald Finzi, including the fanfare-like 'All this night', the early and little-known 'The Brightness of this Day'. In addition, Finzi's 'In Terra Pax', with its magical evocation of an English 'Christmas Card' scene, is a small masterpiece that will form the fulcrum of this celebration of Christmas: come and join us!
