A free community bike ride will take place on Sunday 11th November, giving people the chance to build-up their road confidence while exploring their borough.

The two-hour “Croydon by Bike” event from Barclays – sponsor of Barclays Cycle Hire and Barclays Cycle Superhighways – is being supported by Croydon Council and local company Cycling Instructors, whose staff will lead the ride.

The two-hour ride will start from Croydon Sports Centre and go throughout Croydon showing cyclists many local places of interest. The route has been planned so that it is largely off-road or on very quiet roads so it is suitable for people of all levels of cycling ability.

The free ride on Sunday 11th November brings the community together and promotes safer cycling and the wider benefits of travelling by bike. All people in Croydon need to do is register at [email protected], and bring their bicycle, helmet and a packed lunch (including drinks) on the day. In return, participants will receive a free bike check and ‘goody bag' from Barclays as well as an afternoon finding out what their part of the capital has to offer.

Barclays are proud to support “Croydon by Bike” as it allows residents to explore their local area while gaining road safety awareness.

Councillor Jason Perry, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and transport said: "Croydon is a great borough to explore by bike and this ride is a fantastic way of giving people confidence on the road and a fun day out."

Spaces are limited so people are urged to sign-up in advance. To sign up for the ride please contact [email protected] or 08456 520 421
