The creative London night ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ is embarking on a seven-date tour of England in November 2012, bringing with it the unique mix of female musicians, artists, films, burlesque,
and comedy that has wowed audiences across London over the last two years.

Founded by solo singer-songwriters Samantha Lindo and Eliza Shaddad, this November will see them double headline a bill that also includes the finest locally-sourced female acts in support. Samantha Lindo will be promoting the release of her new EP ‘Last Light in the Sky’; a sad but hopeful record reflecting the intense sweetness of a loss foreseen.

Girls Girls Girls is a positive celebration of womanhood, an inspiring event which has drawn as many men through its doors as ladies. Formed from a wish to celebrate women working together, and to help redress the scarcity of opportunities for females within the arts, it also seeks to raise awareness and funds for Orchid Project, a charity which works to bring an end to female genital cutting worldwide.

“The music industry is renowned for being dominated by men, as are the art and photography worlds,” explains Samantha Lindo, “Rather than fighting this in a negative fashion, we can alter
the balance by empowering each other and working together, and at the same time making the world a more just and safe place for other women, through supporting Orchid.”

Samantha and Eliza have been joined by photographer Georgina White- Aldworth and visual artist Charlotte Ferreira who have created and designed the event publicity and Girls Girls Girls
merchandise, and will showcase films and visual arts on the tour.

About Girls, Girls, Girls
Girls, Girls, Girls is a regular all-female mixed media night inspired by the first World Femininity Day and the charity Orchid Project in 2011. Founders Sam Lindo and Eliza Shaddad, singer-songwriters of Jamaican-British, and Sudanese-British heritage respectively, have created a positive space to celebrate women working together, drawing a range of multimedia artists
together to showcase their talents in beautiful London venues. Men’s participation as supporters and audience members is encouraged and welcome.

About Orchid Project
Orchid Project was founded in 2010 by Julia Lalla-Maharajh with a clear vision of a world free from female genital cutting (FGC). Orchid Project partners, communicates and advocates to
achieve this and believes that a total end to FGC is possible.
Female genital cutting affects 140 million women worldwide and each year, in Africa alone, 3 million girls are at risk of being cut. Orchid Project works with delivery partners at the grassroots who deliver a sustainable end to FGC, communicates the hope for an end to the practice, and advocates at the highest level for increased resources globally towards ending the practice.

About Samantha Lindo
Samantha Lindo writes and sings poetic, heartfelt songs with a voice and presence that can silence a room and touch your heart. She draws inspiration from her mixed Jamaican and British heritage with many songs taking the form of stories spanning back generations and across continents. Her rich and intimately expressive voice has been compared to contemporaries such as Emile Sande, Corinne Bailey Rae and Little Dragon singer Yukimi Nagano, however she also takes much influence from the classic songs of Etta James and Billie Holiday as she weaves in and out of the beat with both soaring and punctuated melodies, creating a style that is full of energy, rawness and power. Sam is set to release her eagerly awaited third EP ‘Last Light in the Sky’ in November 2012.

About Eliza Shaddad
Of Sudanese and Scottish descent, Eliza Shaddad is a writer and performer of arresting ability; blending intricate guitar patters with a stunningly forthright voice. Winding between blues, folk, and jazz she has played across the UK supporting the likes of Michael Chapman, Rue Royale and Finley Quaye, and released her first record in March 2012 to first-rate reviews, blog support and radio support.
As a vocalist and writer with the collective Clean Bandit she has appeared on their EP 'UK Shanty', and subsequently Channel 4, XFM and Radio 1.

About Georgina White-Aldworth
Georgina has practised as an artist since graduating in 2007 from the University of Arts, London. Creating narrative based tableau pieces Georgina mainly uses the medium of photography and collage to produce short stories. More recently she has established herself as a skilled film producer and has collaborated with other artists on short time-based pieces. Georgina has also designed and built her own commercial photography business named ‘white with two sugars’ which specialises in theatre production and events photography. Today Georgina is honoured to be invited into the female collaboration Girls Girls Girls and is excited to exhibit some of her most prolific work yet.

About Charlotte Ferreira
Charlotte studied painting at Camberwell College of Art. Since graduating she has been working to re-claim her own relationship with art, returning to more illustrative roots. Her drawings
often explore the themes of memory, thought and desire through animal and human forms. As fragmented images they are as much about what can be seen as what lies hidden. Immersing herself as resident artist for 'Girls Girls Girls' has given Charlotte the space to explore and develop her own practice, producing work which otherwise, may never have had the opportunity to be seen by an audience. Charlotte has designed all the artwork for the
upcoming tour and is excited to be exhibiting new works at the events.
