Two young musicians will bring some deeply thought-out musical meditations to the fortunate audience at this beautifully intimate venue in northeast London.
Pianist Naomi Edemariam and violoncellist Mayda Narvey have been inspired by Valse des Fleurs, a novel by the English poet Sacheverell Sitwell that extemporises on the 19th-century Russian aristocracy, lovers of French culture and a class of people soon to fade during the horrors of the 20th century.
The programme will include a waltz from Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales, a selection from Stravinsky's Suite italienne, three pieces by Nadia Boulanger, Debussy's cello sonata, two waltzes and the cello sonata by Shostakovich, and Tchaikovsky's Valse des fleurs.
