Top 5 comedy gigs this week

London's Comedy Blog

Hello all,

Here is LondonisFunny.com's pick of this week's comedy shows ...

• July 4-16, Suitcase Royale
Ramshackle, DIY comedy theatre at its best, courtesy of talented Aussie storytellers Suitcase Royale. They bring their latest show The Ballad of Backbone Joe to Soho Theatre.

• July 4, 11, 20; The Tim Vine Chat Show
The punmeister general is going up to Edinburgh this year with a chat show in which the guests are ordinary members of the public. There'll be plenty of his trademark silliness and japery as well – check out the London previews at the Albany pub by Regent's Park.

• Thursday, July 7, Arthur Smith's Pissed Up Chat Show
Hoary old raconteur and wit Arthur Smith is still doing the business, and there's no better way to see him than when he's got the run of an entire night and some guests to get his teeth into. He's at the Udderbelly (the big purple upside-down cow next to the London Eye!) for one night only.

• Friday, July 8, Bush Hall Presents
A reliably excellent show that this month welcomes Miles Jupp, Tim Key, Simon Munnery and James Acaster to the gorgeous Bush Hall in Shepherd's Bush.

• Sunday, July 10
Ed Byrne, Andi Osho, Nick Revell, Shappi Khorsandi, Alistair Barrie, Doc Brown, Dan Antopolski, Hal Cruttenden, Tina C and more comics stand up for human rights with this fundraiser for legal charity Reprieve, which uses the law to enforce the human rights of prisoners, from death row to Guantánamo Bay.

As ever, all the listings and plenty more recommendations, plus loads of Edinburgh preview coverage and interviews can be found at www.londonisfunny.com.

Bye for now!
