Detox for Spring at The House of Elemis

Love London

Though it may be hard to fathom looking at this week's weather forecast, the time is slowly approaching to shed the tights, shorten hemlines and sleeves, retire the winter boots for good and get ready for summer. I for one am in need of some serious help after hiding beneath thermal underwear and a 23 tog duvet for the last five months. Luckily those delightful folk at Mayfair's House of Elemis, tucked at one end of Lancashire Court just off Bond Street, have introduced a trio of new treatments alongside their classic menu, to ready us for the new season ahead.

The Garden of England Rose Restore/i][ is a lavishly hydrating body massage and micro-wrap which uses a unique trio of ultra-nourishing oils (rose, camelina seed oil, and poppy seed oil) to maintain and restore elasticity whilst encouraging skin renewal, as well as a nurturing rose balm. Skin is left exquisitely moisturised, intensely supple and deliciously scented.

For a treatment which transports you to warmer climes, the [i]Frangipani Intensely Cleansing Salt Scrub
, uses the extraordinary cleansing power of salt to release toxins and delicately scents the skin with frangipani. Gently sloughing away dead skin cells encourages the regeneration of new cells, perfectly prepping the skin to be responsive to the deeply nourishing body oil, leaving skin invigorated and velvety soft, ready to be liberated from those winter layers.

I recently paid a little visit to try the third treatment, recommended for powerful detoxification after a winter of hibernating, the Thousand Flower Detox Wrap Enriched by Somerset soil packed with nutrients, flower extracts, and - nature’s miracle molecule - fulvic acid, this treatment helps stimulate the elimination process and restores equilibrium. Omega-rich Green Tea seed oil is massaged into the skin followed by the vitamin-rich super-nutritious earth wrap. The superior anti-oxidant and moisturising properties help maintain the health of the skin; I have to say that following the treatment it's never felt better. While you're wrapped up in the mud and sweating it out in a plastic sheet (don't worry, it's better than it sounds!) your therapist will also indulge you in a facial cleanse and massage, a delicious addition.

If you're in need of a spring in your step following a sluggish winter - and let's face it, who isn't - get thyself down to the House of Elemis. I had my treatment in the Penthouse, a top floor, skylit lit double treatment room. Resplendent with its own private bathroom and a central living room in which you can enjoy food and drink in privacy, the whole thing will leave you feeling like a superstar.
