Had a really bad experience lastnight despite having frequented here on occassion with fond memories. Came with a large group of friends for our first drink of the evening, as I was on medication I declined to drink when the one of the staff asked me for my order. She then told me that it was not a "youth club" and that I should leave if I wasn't going to drink anything. I was absolutely shocked as I was the only one in my group not to order a drink and I don't think I should be discriminated against for not being able to drink at that moment. 30mins later the landlord told the group of us to leave because he didn't "like" people like "us". I am still puzzled as to why we were sent out. He even went to all neighbouring pubs to tell them not to let us in. So much for starting off our night! We all went home feeling a bit ****ed off that we had such a bad reception. I won't be going if they are going to discriminate against people who can't drink and people who are just being friendly.

I agree with the previous review. I was recently on the receiving end of the foul mouth of the revolting landlord. Walk on by people, there are plenty of other pubs in that area and they may have heard of customer service!

The Black Horse used to be a calm, relaxed and pleasant environment that was a frequent stop on our afternoons out. However, it would appear that over the past few weeks it has been taken over by a rude, disheveled, hefty older gentleman who has no perception of customer relations and loses his cool whenever asked for more than one drink. If we are being served by a member of his staff, our drinks take twice as long as they have to work AROUND his flustered movements while he barks orders at them. Seeing him treat his staff like this appalls me. He even had the audacity to grunt at me to "Move out of the Way" while I was standing at the end of the bar chatting to one of them as I assume he thought I was their aquaintance rather than a paying customer.
What also annoyed us was that the fact that whenever we had a grievance about a drink or a meal he would fire out excuse after excuse rather than just apologize and offer us a refund. The staff, however, are more than happy to offer us alternatives and deal with our problems.

The atmosphere has been tarnished with this man ruining what was once a friendly and welcoming escape.

We will not be returning.
