This greyhound track has been in operation since 1937, it’s no wonder it’s one of the best known tracks in the UK with its races being broadcast around Europe. There are matinee races on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, however Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular when a young local crowd arrive to prop up the bar and try their luck on the dogs. Bets can be as little as 50p and you can select up to three dogs to finish in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. If you’re feeling very lucky you can even choose which dog you think will win in races 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12. The Heathview restaurant offers a three course meal plus admission price and racecard on Fridays and Saturdays for under £30, and the food isn’t too shabby either – would you have expected to be served a goujon of tilapia with fennel and dill mayonnaise at a Dartford racing track? There’s a room available for private hire should you wish to host a birthday or corporate do with a view over the racing dogs, and special events often take place during public holidays.
